The 7 road is punctuated by solitude, and it usually is not chosen. Illness, relocation, a friendship group that dissolves, a stretch of unemployment — sevens report these as the periods that changed them, because they are the periods in which the questions the 7 had been outrunning finally got asked. The road removes noise on purpose.
The lesson is not more depth; a 7 has depth. It is trust — of people, of their own conclusions, of a life that cannot be fully analysed before it is lived. Sevens who never make that turn become extremely well-read and quite lonely, holding everything at exactly the distance where it cannot hurt them.
