The 3 road is unusually well supplied. Talent arrives early, people respond, doors open on charm — and the first thirty years can pass on that alone. What the road then does, reliably, is introduce a wall that charm does not open: the project that needs a fourth draft, the audience that has already heard you, the year nobody is impressed.
That wall is the point. Everything a 3 is here to do requires finishing something difficult in public, and the tradition is blunt about it: scattered 3s stay charming and small.
