Missing numbers in the Lo Shu Grid
Plot your date of birth on the Lo Shu Grid and some cells fill up while others stay empty. An empty cell is a missing number — a quality the date did not hand you, which the tradition says can be built deliberately rather than waited for.
How it is calculated: Write out every digit of your birth date and place it in the Lo Shu square. Any digit 1–9 that never appears is missing.

Missing 1 — The Unsaid Self
No 1 in the birth date: self-expression and self-assertion have to be learned rather than assumed.
Missing 2 — The Unread Room
No 2: intuition about people is not automatic, and patience has to be practised.
Missing 3 — The Unfurnished Imagination
No 3: imagination and expression are underdeveloped, and both improve markedly with input.
Missing 4 — The Absent System
No 4: order, routine and follow-through do not arrive naturally and must be installed.
Missing 5 — The Ungrounded Centre
No 5: the grid's centre is empty, so balance and adaptability need deliberate cultivation.
Missing 6 — The Deferred Home
No 6: domestic and aesthetic instincts are not automatic, and relationships need conscious tending.

No 7: depth, patience with study and the inward turn come later and through experience.
