Business name numerology checker

Score any brand name in both systems, letter by letter — and see what the tradition associates with the number it lands on.

Business numerology asks a narrower question than personal numerology: not who you are, but what a name is suited to selling. The letters of the trading name are given values, summed and reduced, and the resulting number is read as a description of the business the name will fit — 5 for trade, 6 for anything the customer experiences, 8 for scale and capital.

One detail matters more than any reading and is usually omitted. Business numerology conventionally uses the Chaldean letter values, which are older and assign letters by sound rather than by alphabetical position — and Chaldean has no letter worth 9. The rest of numerology, including the personal tools on this site, uses Pythagorean. The two systems frequently give different numbers for the same name. This tool shows both, and says which is which.

Use it as a review layer over names you already like. A numerologically ideal name that nobody can spell, pronounce or remember is a worse business name than an ordinary one, and no tradition disagrees with that.

How the calculation works

  1. 1

    Take the trading name

Use the name as customers will actually see it. Include a suffix like 'Traders' or 'Solutions' only if it is genuinely part of the brand rather than a registration formality.

  2. 2

    Assign the Chaldean values

    A, I, J, Q, Y = 1; B, K, R = 2; C, G, L, S = 3; D, M, T = 4; E, H, N, X = 5; U, V, W = 6; O, Z = 7; F, P = 8. There is no 9 — the Chaldean system treats it as sacred and does not assign it to a letter.

  3. 3

    Add and reduce

Sum every letter and reduce to a single digit, keeping 11, 22 and 33 intact. The tool shows the per-letter values so you can check the sum yourself.

Worked example — Sunrise Traders (Chaldean)

S3 U6 N5 R2 I1 S3 E5 = 25

T4 R2 A1 D4 E5 R2 S3 = 21

Total 25 + 21 = 46 → 4 + 6 = 10 → 1

Chaldean 1 — the Sun: a founder-led name, read for going first rather than competing inside a category.

What each number suits in business

The nine readings this tool draws on, in full — so you can pick a target before you start testing names rather than after.

1

A name for going first

The Sun's number reads as original and founder-led — a name that suits a business defining a category rather than competing inside one. The tradition associates it with visibility attaching to a person rather than an institution.

Questions people ask

Which system should I use — Chaldean or Pythagorean?

Business numerology conventionally uses Chaldean, and that is what this tool leads with. But the honest answer is that practitioners differ, and a number quoted without naming its system tells you very little. Both are shown here for that reason.

What is the luckiest number for a business name?

There is no single answer, and any page that gives you one is guessing. 5 is the classical choice for trading and sales, 6 for consumer and hospitality, 8 for capital-heavy businesses at scale, 3 for anything that grows by being talked about. The right number depends on the business.

Should I include Pvt Ltd or LLP?

No. Numerology reads the name as it is used and remembered, not as it is registered. Include a descriptive word like 'Traders' only if customers actually say it.

Is 8 really a bad number for business?

It is the most argued-about number in the tradition, not a bad one. Saturn is read as slow and demanding — strong for established, capital-heavy businesses and heavy for a young venture that needs early momentum. The caution is about timing, not about failure.

Will a numerologically good name make my business succeed?

No, and nobody should tell you otherwise. Numerology is a review layer over a naming decision, alongside memorability, spelling, domain availability and what the name means in the languages your customers speak.

Numerology is an interpretive tradition, not a science. The arithmetic on this page is exact and shown in full so you can check it; the meanings are what the Vedic and Chaldean traditions hold. Treat them as a way of thinking about yourself, not as a prediction, and never as a substitute for medical, financial or legal advice.
