House number numerology
What the number on your door is traditionally read for — calculated from the full house or flat code, working shown.
Of all the applied numerology questions, the house is the one the tradition takes most seriously — you sleep there, and the reading is about atmosphere rather than fortune. A house number is found by adding every digit and letter in the address code and reducing to a single number from 1 to 9.
The readings describe what a home is suited to, not what will happen in it. A 6 is the classical family house; a 7 is the house for study and quiet and is read as isolating for a large sociable family; a 4 rewards routine and resists spontaneity. Two households can be equally happy in the same house and use it completely differently, and the number describes which use it favours.
For flats, the flat number is what counts, not the building's. B-402 is read as B (2) plus 4, 0 and 2 — the tool below counts both letters and digits and shows them separately.

For an apartment, the flat number is the home. A building number describes the building; you live in the flat.

Include the letters
A block or wing letter is part of the address: A=1, B=2 … I=9, then the alphabet repeats. Zeros contribute nothing and are simply skipped.

Reduce to a single digit
Add everything, then keep reducing until you reach 1 to 9. Master numbers are used for people, not for places.
Worked example — flat B-402
Letter: B = 2
Digits: 4 + 0 + 2 = 6
Total: 2 + 6 = 8

My building is 12 and my flat is 402. Which one do I use?
The flat. The tradition reads the space you actually occupy, so 402 (plus any wing letter) is your house number. The building number describes the building as a whole and matters to whoever owns it.
What is the best house number?
6 is the classical answer for a family home — Venus, comfort, hospitality and long tenure. But 'best' depends on use: a 7 is ideal for someone who needs quiet to work and lonely for a sociable family, and a 5 is excellent for a rented flat and unsuited to a house you mean to keep.
Is 4 or 8 an unlucky house number?
No. Both carry specific cautions rather than bad luck: a 4 house asks for routine and maintenance, an 8 house is slow and demands upkeep. Neither reading says anything will go wrong, and neither is a reason to refuse a home you like.
Do zeros count?
A zero adds nothing to the total, so it is skipped — 402 and 42 give the same number. Some practitioners read a zero as amplifying the digit before it; this tool uses the standard sum, and the working shows exactly what was counted.
